Usually I catch up on reading the bug list regularly. As I am CC on a lot of
bugs that doesn't work quite as well for me.

I think it would be nice to get to the source of this, because as noted a
solution that requires no server side changes would be best. 

The difference between the local installation and demo makes me curious...
Maybe a difference between packages and gitified?
