Looking back over this I do think we ended up in very similar places. This is
very good work, and I adopted some of it to complete 33277.

I favored my own code, as developers do sometimes, and didn't look as closely
here once 33159 was PQA.

I think 33159 and 33277 can move forward together, but wanted to acknowledge
that I ended up duplicating much of this work and give credit to Janusz
