I have however opened a bug to add parameters to the XSLT_Handler transform method.

This allows you to pass a hash of key => value pairs to use in a XSLT as parameters. I've used this in my OAI Harvesting code to pass in the unique record identifier from the OAI-PMH response to the XSLT so I can add it to the MARCXML that gets added to Koha.
