Oh, I see the light now. This is useful also for indexing all subfields without having to list all of them. Looks good to me then. We should just make sure to document how the rules work.
Yes, exactly. I was going to make this point but you made it for me :) Besides being cumbersome it would also make the mappings.yaml quite huge and difficult to read, and mappings slower to fetch from database. Also, the mappings are already defined in a way that you need to make minimal changes with this approach.
