http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=9442 Bug ID: 9442 Summary: Why not copying serial holdings in Marc records Classification: Unclassified Change sponsored?: --- Product: Koha Version: master Hardware: All OS: All Status: NEW Severity: enhancement Priority: P5 - low Component: Serials Assignee: koha-bugs@lists.koha-community.org Reporter: mathieu.saby@univ-rennes2.fr CC: colin.campbell@ptfs-europe.com I copy here a discussion held some days ago in koha-devel list

Today, information about serial is only stored in MySQL database. As as consequence, callnumber, holding library, location, notes are not searchable in OPAC, because Zebra cannot index them. One solution could be to copy serial information in Marc structure as does, for example, Sudoc network in France (955 field is used : http://documentation.abes.fr/sudoc/formats/loc/zones/955.htm ) What do you think about it? Sounds good to me. I guess it will need another table in the Koha-to-MARC mappings so we can handle it differently for each MARC flavour. Anyone know what the defaults for other MARCs would be?
Thanks,
M. Saby : I think there is a standard used in Marc21 format for holdings : ISO 10324 http://www.loc.gov/marc/holdings/hdintro.html http://www.itsmarc.com/crs/mergedProjects/holdings/holdings/appendix_d_ansi_... There is something similar for Unimarc http://archive.ifla.org/VI/8/projects/UNIMARC-HoldingsFormat.pdf BUT... it is not used in France http://www.bnf.fr/fr/professionnels/f_um/s.format_unimarc_donnees_local.html...
