https://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=43901 Bug ID: 43901 Summary: MarkLostItemsAsReturned can return items when a blank ("Choose") lost status is set from the items tab of the catalog module Initiative type: --- Sponsorship --- status: Product: Koha Version: 26.05 Hardware: All OS: All Status: NEW Severity: enhancement Priority: P5 - low Component: Circulation Assignee: koha-bugs@lists.koha-community.org Reporter: michael.adamyk@bywatersolutions.com QA Contact: testopia@bugs.koha-community.org CC: gmcharlt@gmail.com, kyle@bywatersolutions.com Target Milestone: --- If a library has some situations set to MarkLostItemsAsReturned and others not to, this preference can cause lost items to be returned even when the lost status is changed to a "blank" status from the items tab. For example: 1. Have MarkLostItemsAsReturned set to return items when "set from the items tab of the catalog module" but NOT to return for return claims. 2. Have an item checked out to a patron, and mark it as a return claim. 3. The item remains on the patron account, following the MarkLostItemsAsReturned preference. 4. Visit the items tab of the item that is claimed returned. 5. From the Lost Status dropdown, select the blank lost status (usually labeled "choose") and click "Set status." 6. The item is returned from the account even though the lost status was changed from a lost status to having no lost status. 7. If the system preference WhenLostChargeReplacement fee is set, and/or the library has processing fees for the item type, those will be added to the patron's account. As an added complication, if this happens with a return claim, the claim status is removed but the item is still an outstanding, unresolved claim. The claim lost status cannot be manually added back onto the item even though it can be removed manually.
