I understand your point. But your remark is not correct. This report was already opened before there was actually code on the CoverFlow plugin (July 2014). So talking about the "intention to reinvent the wheel" is not appropriate imo.
I would not oppose closing the report anyway.
Since I have no idea what the timeline was, I would say it is inaccurate, not inappropriate.
