I was able to create a patron by manually entering a birthdate and by using the flatpickr calendar. When entering the dob manually it worked with the formats of 02/14/2023, 02-14-2023 and 02142023. While the flatpickr calendar works great for selecting dates in the staff interface, it is not patron-friendly for the purpose of entering birthdates in the self-registration form. Here is our experience as early adopters of 22.11: All of our patrons self-register for their library cards. We tasked some patrons to register for a new library card using the self-registration form. They did not find the flatpickr datepicker to be intuitive or simple for the purpose of quickly entering their birthdates. They did not understand why they couldn't type in the box and then their first reaction was to use the arrows to either cycle backward through the months or years (which would take a very long time for someone born in 1933) They didn't understand the concept of directly typing their birthyear in the flatpickr year box first, then selecting their month in order to get to the correct calendar for them to select their specific date of birth. That lead to frustration and once things didn't seem to be working for them they got frustrated and the self-reg form timed out on them which led to a negative customer experience. So I think that it is imperative that users be able to manually enter the birthdates. Additionally, it was possible to do so in 22.05 so this is a loss of functionality for our library. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
