https://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=43287 Bug ID: 43287 Summary: Branch search filter fails to retrieve title-level analytics (773$w / 001) without items Initiative type: --- Sponsorship --- status: Product: Koha Version: 25.11 Hardware: All OS: All Status: NEW Severity: enhancement Priority: P5 - low Component: Searching - Zebra Assignee: koha-bugs@lists.koha-community.org Reporter: biblioteca-central@jusbuenosaires.gov.ar QA Contact: testopia@bugs.koha-community.org Target Milestone: --- Description: In a multi-branch environment, when cataloging component parts or analytical records (for monographs or serials) linked strictly at the title level—using field 001 in the host/parent record and field 773$w in the analytical record, without creating items directly on the analytical record—limiting a search by a specific library branch fails to return the analytical records. Analytical records are only retrieved when searching under 'All libraries'. When filtering by a specific branch, the search engine excludes the analytical record because it lacks its own item, ignoring the fact that the host/parent record has items attached to that branch. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Setup: A Koha instance with at least two branches (e.g., Branch A and Branch B). 2. Host Record: Create or select a host/parent record (monograph or serial) with a control number in field 001 (e.g., 12345). Attach at least one item to this host record assigned to Branch A. 3. Analytical Record: Create an analytical record (article or chapter) linked to the host record via 773$w containing the host's 001 control number (e.g., 773$w = 12345). Do NOT attach any items directly to this analytical record. 4. Search: Go to OPAC or Staff Interface, set the library search filter/limit to Branch A, and search for terms matching the title or author of the analytical record. Actual Result: The analytical record is not returned when filtering by Branch A. It is only retrieved when searching across 'All libraries'. Expected Result: When filtering by a specific branch (Branch A), the search engine should retrieve analytical records linked via 773$w to host records that have items at that branch, indexing/inheriting branch availability from the host record. Additional Context / Notes: - Use case: In centralized or title-level analytical cataloging workflows, attached items should not be duplicated for every single component part/analytic. Branch ownership is determined by the existence of items on the host record. - Indexing behavior: The branch index filter (homebranch / holdingbranch) currently evaluates only item fields present on the record being indexed, without resolving the 773$w - There is a similar but unresolved issue already reported: Bug 19331.
