I tried clicking through some link off what Tomas posted. There... it does work for Chrome is this example I found clicking through there. However, note the lack of love for IE or Edge. My browser agnosticism point is still valid. Granted, I think I've stumbled onto something that says it may be possible to trick Edge into experimentally working for it.
