For some, the hold isn't available to patrons until it is waiting on the shelf, so I suppose they could cancel the hold while it's in transit or the item could get lost in transit, and then they might want one of the other holds in the group.

This is fair. I agree, and I'm happy to consider it to be working as designed. An option to enhance/update this can be added afterwards if required. I've added a follow-up patch. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
