Each row becomes a filter+weight function: documents matching a boosted value have their relevance score multiplied by the configured weight; documents matching no filter are unaffected (neutral 1.0 multiplier). score_mode 'max' takes the highest matching weight per document; boost_mode 'multiply' applies it against the original query score. Boost functions are cached for 5 minutes under the elasticsearch_value_boost_functions key, cleared alongside the existing search fields cache when mappings are saved.
