To recreate this issue, do the following: 1. Add two test patron records, one with the name "Smith, Joseph" and the other "SMITH, THOMAS". 2. Search for a title in the staff client and click Holds to open the request.pl window. 3. Fixes the patron name sorting when placing holds. Testing - See Bug 5674. Create two patrons. One named SMITH, THOMAS and the other Smith, John. Search for an item to place on request.
