I tested this and I could see the published date in parenthesis after the numbering pattern in the Vol info column of the holdings table in the OPAC. I could also see the date in the Serial/Enumeration column of the holdings table on the bibliographic detail view in the staff interface. Changing the system preference to don't show removed the date in both places.
