Recalls can either be placed via the OPAC, or the staff interface, or both. This is set to OPAC by default to be consistent with current behaviour. This enhancement also adds the ability to convert existing reserves to recalls easily via the staff interface. The reserve will be cancelled and a recall placed using the reserve's information. To test: 1) Update database and restart services 2) Enable UseRecalls and set the relevant recalls circulation rules 3) View the new RecallsInterface system preference. Confirm it is set to OPAC only by default 4) Check out Item A to Patron B. 5) Log into the OPAC as Patron A. Confirm you can place, view and cancel recalls as normal. 6) In the staff interface, set RecallsInterface to Staff interface only. 7) In the OPAC, confirm you can still view and cancel recalls, but can no longer place recalls. 8) In the staff interface, search for Item A and go to the Reserves tab. Place a reserve for Patron C. 9) Under the Priority column, select the dropdown and choose the recall option next to your reserve. 10) Click Update holds. Confirm when the page refreshes that your reserve has disappeared. 11) Go to the recalls tab. Confirm your reserve has been converted to a recall, and details like the patron, expiration, and pickup location have carried across to the recall. 12) On this recalls page, use the patron search to find Patron D. Test placing a record-level recall by keeping the 'recall next available item' checkbox. 13) When the page refreshes, confirm the recall was successfully placed with the correct details stored. 14) Repeat steps 12 and 13 with Patron E, this time place an item-level recall by choosing an item in the 'place a recall on a specific item' table. When selecting one of these items, the 'recall next available item' checkbox should de-select. 15) Set RecallsInterface back to OPAC only. Go back to the record and view the Recalls tab. 16) Confirm you cannot search for a patron to place a recall, but can still view and cancel recalls. Confirm you also cannot convert reserves to recalls. 17) Set RecallsInterface to both staff interface and OPAC. Confirm you can place recalls on both interfaces. 18) On the staff interface, test placing recalls that your circulation rules do not allow. For example, if 'recalls per record' is 1, ensure you're blocked from placing a second recall on a record for a patron. 19) Place a reserve for one of the patron's that already has a recall. Once complete, try to convert this reserve into a recall. Confirm you are blocked and shown a message that the hold cannot be converted to a recall. 20) Ensure tests pass t/db_dependent/Holds.t Sponsored-by: Auckland University of Technology -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

I'm not sure if I tested this last time. I'm also sure I've seen this when testing something else a while ago, but can't remember or find what bug it was.
Fixed in latest follow-up
Also, for step 13 it is possible to have more than one recall for a record or item. What would the workflow be for libraries if they were in this situation, and how do they resolve this?
I think that is outside of the scope of this particular ticket (because fulfilling recalls via the staff interface came from the original Bug 19532) but at the moment the oldest/earliest placed recall will be picked first, and priority is given to item-level recalls over biblio-level recalls. A follow-up to all of this would be to introduce a priority field like reserves has, but that can come after we bring in functionality to place recalls via the staff interface I think

URL = http://127.0.0.1:8081/cgi-bin/koha/recalls/request.pl . Breadcrumb = Home > Catalog > No title > Place a recall . Click on the normal section: message = The record you requested does not exist (). URL = http://127.0.0.1:8081/cgi-bin/koha/catalogue/detail.pl?biblionumber=

It seems like maybe we should have a warning or a message there, maybe recommending to convert the existing hold. e) When converting the hold, the recall action is 'Hiding' in the priorities. 20) Ensure tests pass t/db_dependent/Holds.t Sponsored-by: Auckland University of Technology Signed-off-by: David <david@davidnind.com> Signed-off-by: David Nind <david@davidnind.com> -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

Could you please look at the latest WIP patch and let me know if this is what you had in mind for implementing those error messages? Something I'm concerned about in particular is that included more detailed error messages means you can no longer do `if ( $biblio->can_be_recalled )` as it returns a string which Perl interprets at `true`. I've rebased patches and hopefully improved the styling of the error message, but I would like to work on improving the content of the error message in a follow-up bug.
Hi Aleisha. Thanks for rebasing! I've changed the status to Failed QA as: 1. I can't place a recall using the staff interface (with staff interface or both selected for placing recalls): 1.1 Patron search box doesn't work as expected, so can't select a patron to place a recall for: autocomplete doesn't work, search brings you to an empty record, browse by last name does nothing (the autocomplete still works on the holds section). 1.2 Couldn't test steps 12-14, 17-19. Testing notes (using KTD): 1. Test plan: with follow-up patches, there is now only one system preference UseRecalls, you can select which interfaces to allow recalls to be placed from Other notes: 1. With recalls allowed from the staff interface only and an existing recall: 1.1 In the OPAC, the status for the record as a "Recall" in a button, under "Checked out". 1.2 If you click "Recall" you get "Recalls have not been enabled. Please contact your library." on the account's "Recalls history" section. 1.3 Not sure if that is what is expected or not. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

In opac-recall.pl: Shouldn't the check for if($op eq 'cud-cancel) be inside the if ( C4::Context->preference('UseRecalls') =~ m/opac/ ) check? --------- Code looks good and QA script is happy. I'll follow the test plan soon and provide a SO if all is well. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

I then realized 'record' in recalls_per_record refers to the patron record (?) and is consistent with the other circulation rules. 6) Bug 23269 should be rebased on this or vice-versa. I believe recalls API endpoints will be needed for bug 23269. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

20) Ensure tests pass t/db_dependent/Holds.t Sponsored-by: Auckland University of Technology Signed-off-by: David <david@davidnind.com> Signed-off-by: David Nind <david@davidnind.com> Signed-off-by: Pedro Amorim <pedro.amorim@ptfs-europe.com> -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

https://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=31391 Aleisha Amohia <aleisha@catalyst.net.nz> changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Status|Failed QA |ASSIGNED --- Comment #126 from Aleisha Amohia <aleisha@catalyst.net.nz> --- (In reply to Pedro Amorim from comment #103)
Have signed-off as the observations I'm listing below are minor and quickly fixable (adding the ones from comment #92 here to have them all in a single comment):
1) In koha-tmpl/opac-tmpl/bootstrap/en/modules/opac-user.tt
We have IF Koha.Preference('UseRecalls') != "off"
Should it not be IF Koha.Preference('UseRecalls').match('opac)
i.e. do we want to show this on this template if UseRecalls = 'staff'?
Thanks for checking, yes we still want it there to show recalls on their account that were requested via the staff interface, even if the user couldn't request it themselves via the OPAC.
2) In opac-recall.pl: Shouldn't the check for if($op eq 'cud-cancel) be inside the if ( C4::Context->preference('UseRecalls') =~ m/opac/ ) check?
Similar to the above response - the cud-cancel being outside the UseRecalls check means they can still cancel recalls that were requested on their behalf via the staff interface. So this is intentional also.
3) Occurrences of: <input type="submit" class="btn btn-default" value="Place recall"> Should be using .btn-primary
Thanks, will address in a follow-up
4) I believe occurrences of: div class="dialog alert" Should be div class="alert alert-warning"
Thanks, will address in a follow-up
5) At first it seems recalls_per_record was buggy as I had it configured as 5 but was placing 10 recalls on a biblio record. I then realized 'record' in recalls_per_record refers to the patron record (?) and is consistent with the other circulation rules.
Yes that's right, the rule limits how many recalls a patron may request on one record, and does look to be working as intended.
6) Bug 23269 should be rebased on this or vice-versa. I believe recalls API endpoints will be needed for bug 23269.
I think that would be handled separately - this bug report is building upon existing recalls functionality to enable recalls requested via the staff interface, so new endpoints would be out of scope. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

Thanks Aleisha.
I've tested, and everything in the OPAC and staff interface seems to be working fine for me.
Out of curiosity, I ran the qa script: - there are some fails for tidiness, missing new line at the end of files and a couple of others - the t/db_dependent/Circulation.t tests fail
Thanks David. I've fixed the QQA test tools failures, but still need to fix the Circulation.t test failure. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

https://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=31391 --- Comment #185 from Aleisha Amohia <aleisha@catalyst.net.nz> --- Created attachment 200578 --> https://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/attachment.cgi?id=200578&action=edit Bug 31391: Request recalls and convert reserves on staff interface This enhancement adds the ability to place recalls via the staff interface by changing the UseRecalls system preference to have choices which describe where recalls can be placed. Recalls can either be placed via the OPAC, or the staff interface, or both. To be set to OPAC would be consistent with current 'on' behaviour. UseRecalls is turned off by default. This enhancement also adds the ability to convert existing holds to recalls easily via the staff interface. The hold will be cancelled and a recall placed using the hold's information. To test: 1) Update database and restart services 2) Set UseRecalls to OPAC and set the relevant recalls circulation rules OPAC only by default 3) Check out Item A to Patron B. 4) Log into the OPAC as Patron A. Confirm you can place, view and cancel recalls as normal. 5) In the staff interface, set UseRecalls to Staff interface only. 6) In the OPAC, confirm you can still view and cancel recalls, but can no longer place recalls. 7) In the staff interface, search for Item A and go to the Holds tab. Place a hold for Patron C. 8) Check the checkbox for your hold and confirm the counts in the buttons above the Holds table are incremented as expected. 9) Click the button to Convert selected holds to recalls, a modal should pop up. Confirm all of the information is correct. 10) Confirm the conversion and once the page refreshes, your hold should be correctly cancelled using the new RECALLED reason. 11) Go to the Recalls tab. Confirm your hold has been converted to a recall, and details like the patron, expiration, and pickup location have carried across to the recall. 12) On this Recalls page, use the patron search to find Patron D. Test placing a record-level recall by choosing to recall the next available item. 13) When the page refreshes, confirm the recall was successfully placed with the correct details stored. 14) Repeat steps 12 and 13 with Patron E, this time place an item-level recall by choosing an item in the 'place a recall on a specific item' table. When selecting one of these items, the 'recall next available item' section should become disabled. 15) Set UseRecalls back to OPAC only. Go back to the record and view the Recalls tab. 16) Confirm you cannot search for a patron to place a recall, but can still view and cancel recalls. Confirm you also cannot convert holds to recalls. 17) Set UseRecalls to both staff interface and OPAC. Confirm you can place recalls on both interfaces. 18) On the staff interface, test placing recalls that your circulation rules do not allow. For example, if 'recalls per record' is 1, ensure you're blocked from placing a second recall on a record for a patron. Another example, testing converting a hold to a recall when there are NO checked out items, as recalls can only be placed if something is checked out. 19) Place a hold for one of the patron's that already has a recall. Once complete, try to convert this hold into a recall. Confirm you are blocked and shown a message that the hold cannot be converted to a recall. 20) Confirm patron messaging preferences for recalls notices can still be configured as expected. 21) Ensure tests pass: * t/db_dependent/Circulation.t * t/db_dependent/Circulation/transferbook.t * t/db_dependent/Holds.t * t/db_dependent/Koha/Biblio.t * t/db_dependent/Koha/Item.t * t/db_dependent/SIP/Transaction.t * t/db_dependent/Search.t * t/db_dependent/XSLT.t Sponsored-by: Auckland University of Technology -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

https://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=31391 --- Comment #203 from Katrin Fischer <katrin.fischer@bsz-bw.de> --- Created attachment 201207 --> https://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/attachment.cgi?id=201207&action=edit Bug 31391: Request recalls and convert reserves on staff interface This enhancement adds the ability to place recalls via the staff interface by changing the UseRecalls system preference to have choices which describe where recalls can be placed. 21) Ensure tests pass: * t/db_dependent/Circulation.t * t/db_dependent/Circulation/transferbook.t * t/db_dependent/Holds.t * t/db_dependent/Koha/Biblio.t * t/db_dependent/Koha/Item.t * t/db_dependent/SIP/Transaction.t * t/db_dependent/Search.t * t/db_dependent/XSLT.t Sponsored-by: Auckland University of Technology Signed-off-by: David Nind <david@davidnind.com> -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

https://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=31391 --- Comment #216 from Katrin Fischer <katrin.fischer@bsz-bw.de> --- 0) Why? After talking to a lot of academic libraries I believe that this patch set will be key to make the feature useful for many more libraries. A major blocker for these libraries is that they want staff to do the recalls, which is currently impossible, and not allow patrons in the OPAC to do so. It also includes a feature to turn a hold into a recall. All tested OK, added a small GUI follow-up. Passing QA. @RM please have a look at the follow-up and the database updates (merging/try-catch). 1) QA tests All pass OK now. This POD failure is not relevant for the patch set: [FAIL] C4/Search.pm FAIL pod_coverage sub _build_stemmed_operand has no pod coverage. sub _build_weighted_query has no pod coverage. sub _detect_truncation has no pod coverage. sub _get_facets_from_records has no pod coverage. 2) Code review A few notes about some things I spent a little more time on: a) Database updates - Atomic database updates could be combined. - I am not sure about the try/catch - we had the idea for some time to do this but I think we concluded they would not work as expected given the way we run them. b) OK UseRecalls now has 3 possible settings instead of being boolean: off, opac, staff, opac_and_staff - All occurences and checks on UseRecalls appear to have been updated. 3) Testing a) Detail page: I missed at first that you can place a recall through the tab on the left, I kept staring at the toolbar. I suggest adding a "Place recall" link there too when placing recalls in staff is allowed. --> FOLLOW-UP PATCH ADDED 4) Unrelated or small things to be adjusted separately: a) Improve messages when there are no recalls - Circulation > Recalls queue: Don't show "The following recalls could be fulfilled by available items." when there are no recalls, but just the blue alert like on the other pages. - Circulation > Old recalls: is the only page where the "no recalls" alert has a white background. - Patron account > Recalls history: also has the white background b) Staff detail page - The page title of /cgi-bin/koha/recalls/request.pl was changed from "Existing recalls" to "Place a recall", both are true sometimes. It would be nice to also check for the UseRecalls setting here. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

Looks great to me.
4) Unrelated or small things to be adjusted separately:
a) Improve messages when there are no recalls - Circulation > Recalls queue: Don't show "The following recalls could be fulfilled by available items." when there are no recalls, but just the blue alert like on the other pages. - Circulation > Old recalls: is the only page where the "no recalls" alert has a white background. - Patron account > Recalls history: also has the white background

b) Staff detail page - The page title of /cgi-bin/koha/recalls/request.pl was changed from "Existing recalls" to "Place a recall", both are true sometimes. It would be nice to also check for the UseRecalls setting here.
