Auto configuring the network is probably the most likely part of the CD to fail, unfortunately. When the CD booted, did it inform you that it could not find an ethernet card? It should have printed a message and waited for a keypress if it did not find an ethernet card. After booting, log in to the terminal (just use a space for the password) and run "lsmod" to see if any modules are loaded. If there is an ethernet module loaded, try running "ifconfig eth0" to see if there is an eth0 interface and if it is configured with an ip. Steve.
