No, it looks exactly the same when in menu "Choose your language" using "en" instead of "de-DE". You also wrote:

If the installation of de-DE didn't finish correctly, you might find that the files are missing in installer/data/mysql/de-DE.
They seem to be there (see above).
I'd try uninstalling de-DE and reinstalling, maybe it will help. Aleisha posted on some issues with the translations the other day, wonder if this could be related?
I removed de-DE: $ sudo koha-translate --remove de-DE Now "sudo koha-translate --list" didn't show anything anymore. But the files (as shown above) are still there. I then tried again using the webinstaller to populate the database tables but nothing has changed. Then I removed the complete Koha instance, created it again and reinstalled "de-DE". I had to remove the cookies for the webinstaller to get access to the original webinstaller login. Again I chose "de-DE" as the language. For whatever reason now the language turned to German and everything went and looked as it should. Thanks for your help!
