[Koha-devel] Is There A Way To Request Data Via Another Web App

Hi All, I am a new developer. I have a web application that requires to be able to query Koha for a list of books that are checked out to a particular user,. Is this exposed via an interface, or is reading it dirrectly from the database my best bet? If reading the data that I need dirrectly from the database is the best solution, is there documentation that describes the layout of the databases? Any help is greatly appreciated.
