Which do people prefer? I'd lean towards doing (1 or 2) and 3.
I prefer #3! It seems like some kind of de facto standard, is possibly picked up programatically, and may help us move toward CPAN or debian compliance. Has there been discussion about this and the possible benefits and problems before? I'd hate to re-hash another old discussion.
