emachine 2 models no go! have used redhat on them before, do not remember which network cards are i though. I wonder if it is fighting with the dsl router that is supplying dhcp on the network? ed!

Ed, could you let us know what cpu, motherboard, hard drive, and nic you have? Have you been able to run linux on the box your testing with?
(There's probably a bit more info that'd be helpful as well, but I'm drawing a blank at the moment.)
