Koha development efforts
Several people have contacted me recently about working on Koha. With our current push to 2.0.0, I'd like to take a moment to get everybody working in the same direction. First, if you haven't done it yet, please sign up as a developer. This entails several things: * get an account at sourceforge and let me know what it is so that you can have CVS access * set up an account at bugs.koha.org so that you can submit, claim, and resolve bugs in our bugzilla system * sign up for at least the koha-devel list (you may also want to sign up for the bugzilla list, the cvs list, and/or the Koha list -- if you are multilingual, please sign up for the koha-translate list.) Next, please don't work on new functionality for the main Koha system at this point. Until we get 2.0.0 out the door, only Paul will be adding features to Koha (and not many). All of our work should be on bugs. If you want to fix something and don't see a bug report for it, please create one. If you are adding features for you local site, don't worry. Hold on to your changes. Once we've released 2.0.0, we can start folding in new features. The sooner we get the bug list cleared out, the sooner we can release 2.0.0. If you have a bit of spare time, please adopt a bug and put us out of its misery. Getting 2.0.0 done is going to be a big milestone for us. There are a lot of libraries looking pretty hard at Koha right now. 2.0.0 is going to be a big step in convincing them that Koha is ready. thanks, -pate Pat Eyler Kaitiaki/manager migrant Linux sys admin the Koha project ruby, shell, and perl geek http://www.koha.org http://pate.eylerfamily.org
Hi

I have a second area in which I'd appreciate some input, I'm re-skinning Koha hopefully for the 2.0 release - and I'd like your feedback on wether the screens I'm designing "make sense". http://www.katipo.co.nz/gallery/koha This is just a gallery of pics - storyboards if you will. I've started in acquisitions, as I think that's an area people have a lot of trouble with. I've tried to simplify screens, and make the "process" of getting books etc into the library more transparent. I've started with (I think) the most complicated routine, the book budgets model. I'm particularly interested in wether things make sense (more so than whether you like the colour :-) The Navigation at the top changes about half way through to add "administration", I haven't backfilled that change in the pics, but whatever the top nav is it will be the same throughout Koha. You can add comments to individual screens - and that would be particularly helpful if you find yourself "stuck" on one. Hi Rachel I have seen the images at the gallery and for me are OK. Only I'm concerned about the inclusion of legends into the images. I mean, I can see that some of the images contain messages, for translation proposals this is a constraint, for us is very faster to translate templates than images. I don't know if this is valid for everybody...Comparatively I have seen that in 1.92 there are lot few images containing legends than in 1.23 for example. Perhaps this could be solved if the original-creator file of the images (Corel/Photoshop or another) could be posted for downloading... Thanks a lot. Regards. Emiliano. Hello Emiliano, Right now, in the default template for CVS, there should be almost no images that contain words in them. I have tried to go through and convert them all to "text-based" buttons so that translations are done easier. Similarly, to the best of my knowledge, the only images that appear on Rachel's design are the purple blob images. The rest are taken care of in style sheets. Hope this clears some things up. Mike
