docbook-xml triggers scary update-catalog message(s) under Ubuntu 12.10
Greetings, I know the instructions say use LTS for Ubuntu, so this shouldn’t be an immediate problem, but it seems like Ubuntu 12.10 may have a problem. Updating the super catalog... Setting up docbook-xml (4.5-7ubuntu1) ... update-catalog: Suppressing action on super catalog. Invoking trigger instead. update-catalog: Please rebuild the package being set up with a version of debhelper fixing #477751. Which is like: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=675007 I'll keep going, but I think the docbook-xml for debian and ubuntu differ and ubuntu's is broken. Is there a way to force the previous version to be used? 4.5.7? I think the Ubuntu 12.10 is using 4.5.7-1. Given that I have seen a lot of people do Ubuntu lately in the lists and on IRC, this may need consideration. GPML, Mark Tompsett

Is it a warning or an actual error?

No, and I'm not all that willing to maintain an alternate version in the repos unless super critical. This said, docbook I think is just a build dependency, not needed at runtime. One of these days I need to separate these out. -- Robin Sheat Catalyst IT Ltd. ✆ +64 4 803 2204 GPG: 5957 6D23 8B16 EFAB FEF8 7175 14D3 6485 A99C EB6D
Greetings,
Is it a warning or an actual error?
Well, it doesn't halt on the sudo apt-get install koha-common, so I am assuming warning. I didn't go further than that.

I was not suggesting an alternate, suggesting a forced version 4.5.7 which is stable in both Debian and I suspect Ubuntu. That would be a pain, and the goal isn't pain. One goal is easy to maintain.
This said, docbook I think is just a build dependency, not needed at runtime. One of these days I need to separate these out.
If it is just a build dependency, then the message is most definitely a warning and can be ignored. That was something I was wondering as well (is it a just a build dependency?). GPML, Mark Tompsett

I think docbook-xml is only used to convert the koha-common man pages from docbook to um, "man format", which happens when the packages are built. Best regards, Magnus Enger libriotech.no
