Re: [Koha] koha setup: problems, information request for the same
Dear Koha Dev [Rachel], Thank you very much your response for my queries. But, we are still facing the problems in making Koha setup up and running. We are here with giving you a snapshot of the setup of what we have and try to address our major concern. Our Concern:Koha system is not allowing us to issue a book with out entering the bar code. We are struck at the screen in the below URL [keeping at a URL, because attachments clog your mail boxes] http://www.angelfire.com/indie/vijayk/koha/circulation.html We want to know which parameter should be turned off inorder to avoid entering bar code. The system parameters in our setup are as shown in the following URL http://www.angelfire.com/indie/vijayk/koha/systempreferences.html We will be really thankful to have your inputs and any further setup we have to do. Thanks in advance, Vijay --- vijay.kankipati@tcs.com wrote: > ----- Forwarded by Vijay Kankipati/HYD/TCS on
Dear Vijay

Sorry if I missed the answer to this, but how will you know what book you have issued without entering its bar code? Thanks for your response. We would like to deactive bar code dependency in Circulations for our setup. And, we want to maintain some serial numbers, through which we can uniquely identify the books. We might have over looked an option while installation, but now, our Koha installation is not allowing us to issue books without bar codes. We tried configuring in Preferences and/or System Parameters. Still, not able to disable barcode dependency. Is there a way to deactive bar code dependency in Koha Circulations once the installation is done. Or else, we will try a fresh installation. Thanks, Vijay p.s: Please let us know, if any of you don't want us to send these queries to your personal mail IDs (in Cc). On Fri, 28 May 2004 11:06:08 +0100, MJ Ray <mjr@dsl.pipex.com> wrote:

Why do you not enter your serial numbers in the space marked "bar codes"? [...]

Thanks, I am subscribed to koha-devel and would prefer only to get list emails via that list, so no cc required. I cc'd you because I do not know whether you are and there is no guide for that list. -- MJR/slef My Opinion Only and possibly not of any group I know. http://www.ttllp.co.uk/ for creative copyleft computing Help hack the EuroParl! http://mjr.towers.org.uk/proj/eurovote/
Vijay, you _must_ have some sort of identification number for each book. It does not have to be a barcode number (but that's what most libraries use), it could be any number that you type in when Koha asks for a "barcode." (In other words, "barcode"="ID number") Stephen KSS Vijaya Bhaskar said: <snip>
