When I add a new item under simple acquisitions, the item will be added but 
when a search for it was made (both under intranet and opac) the item count is 
empty.  This is under 2.0pre2 which was upgraded from 1.2.3

I've also tried it on a newly installed 2.0 pre 2 with the same problem.  

I can however loan the book out and when its returned, that's the only time it 
gets an item count.
