Also, if you send the password in the clear, if it is intercepted once, and you
are one of (more people than we'd like to admit) those people who uses the same
password in multiple accounts, it's not only your library account that is now
possibly hacked. We should not ever, ever, ever show a password in the clear.
Ever. 

I am glad this works the way it does, it is the proper way.
