I agree that this needs to be addressed. My library is now on 17.05 and the
17.05 manual still describes editing analytical records by using "Edit in Host"
and "Delink" which disappeared in 16.11:

I can confirm that the following process worked for me for withdrawing a volume
linked to an analytical record:
1) Delete the 773 in the MARC record of the analytical (child) record. Result:
the record no longer had an item attached.
2) Delete the bibliographic record that was the analytical (child) record. 
-- Repeat 1 & 2 for all child records attached to the host --
3) Go to the host record.
4) Delete the item.
5) Delete the record.
