[Koha-win32] help: startup error on winxp

Hello all,

I am a total newbie to Koha and ran into the following problem after much
trial and error in installation:

OS:   WinXP SP2

Koha Ver: Koha 2.2.9-w32-r1

Apache Ver: apache_2.2.8-win32-x86-openssl-0.9.8g

MySQL ver: mysql-5.0.51a-win32

Perl Ver: ActivePerl 5.8.8 Build 822

exception on mysql, installed instance as a service

I've seen similar posted on the mailing list archives but no solution.
Can somebody tell me what is wrong? And how to fix it.

I actually want to evaluate Koha 3 but I'm not an IT guy and the version I
saw on the wiki required a lot of work configuring it just to work.
