I have been enlightened to the fact that the regular shelving location is stored in the permanent_location field. A fact that wasn't very clear until I read the descriptions better. So the report issue is moot, except for the fact that I have to update over 250 reports to the permanent_location field instead of location.
I hope the reports have been fixed in the last 7 years ;)
This does point out a bit of craziness in Koha, in that the term permanent location in the actual item record refers to the branch location, not a shelving location!
The descriptions of item subfields have been fixed since, but only for new installations. The previous permanent location is now home library.
Anyway, a major issue still exists in that you CANNOT see the permanent_location information in the item record. All you can see is the temporary shelving location. This should be rectified.
