Strings for Koha 3.20 - first batch
Hi, it's open season to translate Koha 3.20! They are not the final strings yet, but we can begin. News: You will find new files, one for each MARC dialect. They collect all strings corresponding to 'files' identified as such (marc21/unimarc/normarc), mostly from staff interface. Old staff translation file was split into 4 files: staff-prog marc-MARC21 marc-NORMARC marc-UNIMARC But marc files also catch strings from opac, removing some redundancy. Hi! How long is the window from string freeze to release? We use a commercial translation company and I wonder if they would have time to schedule the work so they could do it in this window (or if we need to start right away and accept that there might be some changed strings we need to go over again later). Sorry if it’s an obvious question but it would be good to have it back up at 100% translated for sv-se again, and for once have it in the original release so people won’t have to pull the translation later from Pootle. Viktor, good question. I'd like to have the big picture of how much work needs to be done before answering. The release is scheduled for the end of May, so my first idea would be to let you translate the last week. If it doesn't seem enough, i'll consider a shift. Hi and thanks for the update! I just asked the translators if they would manage to do the some 20 000+ strings in that week between string freeze and release. Otherwise I’ll have to get them going right away (and maybe do daily uploads to keep in sync with changed strings). Update on sv-se: The translators are ready to assign a two person team to the task and do it in a week. I told them release day is may 22 and that string freeze is probably around may 14/15 so that’s what they are planning for right now. Update on sv-se: Pulled the 3.20 files a few hours ago and sent for translation. Please give me a heads up if that somehow is a bad idea :) Will probably upload the files every night if the translators chose to work offline.
