The Koha database version is 3.00.00.086. I'm running Koha in an Xen Virtual Machine running openSUSE 10.3, Apache 2.2.4 and MySQL 5.0.45 I'm using UNIMARC. I have disabled Zebra, by: 1 - When running "perl Makefile.PL" from this development snapshot, I have answered "no" to the question "Install the Zebra configuration files?" 2 - Running the Koha Web Installer and selecting "NoZebra" as the indexing engine in "Step 3" (and selecting "Unimarc" as the MARC flavour). The Koha Web Installer language chosen was "en" (English). The problem detected was that catalog searches only worked for "keyword" searches. Searches in other fields always returned "no results found" (e.g: searches in "Title" or "Author" always returned zero results). I have posted this problem in the Koha Mailing List: [Koha] Catalog searches working with Keyword search but not with Title and Author in Koha 3 http://lists.katipo.co.nz/public/koha/2008-May/014057.html In 30th May 2008, I entered the #koha IRC channel. Paul Poulain (paul), Galen Charlton (gmcharlt) and Henri-Damien Laurent (hdl) helped working through this problem and have identified it as being caused by the "NoZebraIndexes" system preference being set with MARC21 values for UNIMARC installations. The problem happens, at least, for installations when the selected language was "en" (English). Even that is only useful within the home library's data, from the STAFF side. Am I missing something? Unlike other searches, there is NO semantic relationship between the multiple elements that might be returned on a partial barcode search. They might be items acquired around the same time, or they might not. Maybe 5 consecutive barcodes are items on the same biblio, and maybe they're not. Who do we imagine would utilize such a search from the OPAC? Users who have the whole barcode but don't want to type it all in?
