This causes unexpected behavior when attempting to scroll through dates. Most noticably, the third time you click the 'back one month' button, the calendar switches to November of next year. The lookup should be done by the local Name Service Switch, usually the /etc/hosts file. There is an override possible with WEBSERVER_IP and other similar variables, but if a system's local hostname isn't configured correctly, all sorts of things will fail, so it's not really a good idea.
