Try to search "spa" at http://carthage-staff.kohalibrary.com/cgi-bin/koha/catalogue/search.pl It returns no hits. If you do a regular keyword search on spanish and look at any of the records in the list, they all have 041$a and 008 pos 35-37 with spa in them. Other languages do not work as well. Ryan mentioned that the 008 35-37 search is defined as a numeric search. In the cases above, the value in these records is eng not spa? I propose that we alter the UI to separate the renew action from the return action to eliminate confusion. The very first field is the Patron# where the Koha borrower number appears as a link. If you click on this borrower number, you get an error message "This patron does not exist". It appears as if the system is doing a library card number search instead of a borrower number search.
