The downside of this is that the word "user" cannot be used in a default value for a note! In order to combat this problem, Koha needs a script for bulk de-duplicating of authority records. The deduplicator should be able to automatically recognize machine-generated authority records, and choose official records. It should also recognize when one record supersedes another based on previous headings. Items that are created through original cataloging have the items.permanent_location set to the items.location value. This causes serious issues when items are circulated and the library is using the CART/PROC system preferences. When you are checking in a large number of books it is easy to go by the hold message if you are just checking the books in. Items become unlinked and biblio's show up as "no title" in a staff catalogue search.
