A keyword search for Gene Porter Stratton generates author links of the form {STAFF URL}/cgi-bin/koha/catalogue/search.pl?q=au:%22Stratton-Porter,%20Gene,%22 This link will return no results. If I replace the hyphen with %20 (i.e. a URL encoded space), the search works: {STAFF URL}/cgi-bin/koha/catalogue/search.pl?q=au:%22Stratton%20Porter,%20Gene,%22 To replicate: Do a keyword search for an author with a hyphenated name (I've attached a marc record that has Gene Porter-Stratton for convenience). On the results list page or the detail page, click on the link with the author's name, e.g. By: Stratton-Porter, Gene, 1863-1924. The results will look like this: No results found No results match your search for 'au:"Stratton-Porter, Gene,"' in Some Library Back up to the previous page. Copy the link url into a text editor. After Bug 11998, this is now efectivelly resolved for Koha + memcache setups, but Koha + Cache::Memory (= default caching system) setups are still affected. To address that, this patch reverts a small (most speed-sensitive) part of Bug 11998. Hopefully, this solution is only temporary, to be reverted when (if) better one will become available. If we seek having not ephemeral URIs they should be completely different. Take a look to this article from 1998 of a guy called Tim Berners-Lee: "Cool URIs don't change" https://www.w3.org/Provider/Style/URI A normal Koha URI looks like this: https://catalog.bywatersolutions.com/cgi-bin/koha/opac-detail.pl?biblionumb… This URI is doomed to die in the short term, is not designed thinking in long-term. We have a lot of information about the tools and technical things used to put it there, like "cgi-bin", "koha" and "pl". Is not even consistent about using always en_US (american English): "/cgi-bin/koha/cataloguing/addbooks.pl" (cataloguing != cataloging). As the article say we shouldn't forget about domain name. We could encourage the use of more permanent words like "catalog" for the host part of the FQDN.
