I've used it in cases where a client's Koha database was originally utf-8 data stuck in a latin1 database definition. The data in the marc table (marc_subfield_table) is intact. In other words: select publishercode from biblioitems; returned corrupt data, while select subfieldvalue from marc_subfield_table where tag=260 and subfieldcode='b'; returned good data. The whole of biblioitems table is having trouble. The biblio table continues to have good data. For instance, you could, from the mysql console, run the follwing queries: select publishercode from biblioitems where biblionumber=<your biblionumber> select subfieldvalue from marc_subfield_table where tag=<field mapped to publishercode> and subfieldcode=<subfield mapped to publishercode> and bibid=<bibid of the record in question> (note that in rel_2_2 bibid and biblionumber are usually, but not always the same number ... check in marc_biblio if there's any confusion) It is the publishercode field that's having trouble here? is it just that field, and you have checked the table/column defs for proper encodig of that field? ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are the QA contact for the bug, or are watching the QA contact.

Thank you very much for that excellent document. It was very helpful. What I can do: * dump into mysql utf8 data. * query, retrieve and view utf8 data in mysql. (using the mysql commandline, aka mysql client) * search and view utf8 records thru koha. (both imported and newly created ones).
