Checked the issue of what is being sent and it appears to be only the opacnote. This was in the patch containining sip developments sponsered by NEKLS this may have addressed the originally reported case. I've just had a report of this occuring. The problem is not just borrower notes, any text field which includes a carriage return can cause this as CR is the sip message terminator. Checking that item in at its holding location simply reports 'not checked out'. Furthermore, if this item is checked in at any other location, no 'forced transfer' entry is created in branchtransfers. This is with HomeOrHoldingBranch set to 'holdingbranch'. If HomeOrHoldingBranch is set to 'homebranch', then the checkin is disallowed and the user is directed to return the item to its home library ( but no transfer is initiated, no slip to print ). This exposes a needed enhancement, allowing certain items to float between locations, which is certainly a desired feature. However, I think the default behavior should be to prompt the user to return the item to its home location if homebranch != holdingbranch and no outstanding holds exist. Steps to recreate: 1 place a hold on an item, with pickup library != item home library. 2 check in the item, initiating transfer to pickup library 3 cancel the hold 4 check in item at pickup library. This enhancement does not accrue fines after the date the item is marked claims returned, unless the item is found and checked in. At that point, fines catch up to the current date. This enhancement uses a new LOST authorized value, and enters the numeric of that value into a new syspref called ClaimsReturnedValue. Example: Patron puts items in cart, A, B, C, D A is available B is available C is not holdable D has no items Until C and D are removed from the cart, one cannot place holds on A and B from the cart, it fails silently: clicking the Place Hold button doesn't do anything and gives no meaningful output. Easiest solution for this is to add a message to the error message for "Some items cannot be placed on hold" to say "Remove the offending items from your cart." Best solution is to re-do the script to not fail on those items that are not holdable, and put the items that are holdable on hold.
