The main and immediate way to identify an item is the barcode. So, it would be more convenient and rapid, when they may analyse a problem from a patron circulation log, to have the barcode displayed instead of the itemnumber in the ISSUE and RETURN links. However this is not always the case because it is not (unlike in an iteractive staff session) passed to the session, therefore some activities (e.g. checkout ) occur. They default to branch of the sip user. This can skew statistics and the location of returned items ( and transits). To behave consistently the session branch should be set in the session from the value in config. Also in windows the NSB NSE characters are showing in boxes with their codes, 0088 and 0089. While this can be helpful in some circumstances, more often it is useful for items to be sorted first by their enumchron (volume/issue, if applicable) then by their copy number. This patch changes the sort on GetItemsInfo to branch, enumcrhon, copynumber then date accessioned. As sorting on copynumber will be incorrect based on standard sorting ( e.g. 1, 10, 2, 20 ), the copynumber is now padded with leading zeros to correct the sorting ( e.g. 01, 02, 10 20 ). This function appears to be a standard SQL function and not a mysql-ism. I have verfified that is available in MySQL, Postgres, and Oracle.
