I am not really sure whether this pref is needed, or why other search indexes don't seem to be affected by it. While there is discussion on a possible validation, it would be best to specify it in the manual in the mean time. I felt notices should fall into the same category.. they are unlikely to be changed often, but when they are changed logging is rather important..
