That'd be handy. Looks like bug 18752 made it so we could set a blank as our substitution value, but doesn't help on the match value. Since they are not wrapped inside any HTML element it can be hard to customize with CSS/JS. This is extra confusing for users who have their username generated in the firstname.surname form.
