This is because auto-truncate feature change the query "an:1" to "an:1*". Current column default 0 is already ignored by C4::Members::Messaging::SetMessagingPreference, see https://github.com/Koha-Community/Koha/blob/8c367775470fcecdda54e28270b05d9… , so we should also make NULL default at database level instead. We are planning to add a more detailed message about the restriction, so it would be nice to be able to look for the date without having to leave the page. This can cause things, like elastic indexing, to queue up but without actioning it via the skip_index option.
