Could we make it MARC agnostic? Like use a general term in the pref and make it work for UNIMARC as well? I am not sure if there is code for UNIMARC to do a similar thing yet, if not, we could just add a note to the pref description that this is MARC21 only. 2) syspref.sql is sorted alphabetically, actually that helps us to avoid rebasing a lot as not everyone adds their new prefs in the same spot at the end. Sadly, we got a UNIMARC vs MARC21 issue here - the mappings with UNIMARC are usually quite different. I think the best would be to look up the subfield codes with the known date columns we have in the items table instead of hardcoding the subfields - this way the MARC flavour and people having mapped things differently won't matter and it will always work. Suggestions: 2) I love the word 'collapse' for this behaviour. I want to suggest renaming the preference from HideFieldsPatronAddForm to CollapseFieldsPatronAddForm. I think using collapse would nicely set this off from other preferences like that actually hide things without giving the option to make them visible again. We could even think about naming it a little differently, perhaps: CollapseSectionsPatronAddForm. Not sure section is good, maybe areas? In the staff interface the add and edit screens take up the whole width of the screen, and the other tools menu items are pushed to the bottom. On the signage screens, things don't display correctly.
