[Bug 18336] New: Use utf8mb4 instead of utf8 for MySQL tables, columns, and connections
by bugzilla-daemon＠bugs.koha-community.org 31 Aug '18

31 Aug '18

https://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=18336 Bug ID: 18336 Summary: Use utf8mb4 instead of utf8 for MySQL tables, columns, and connections Change sponsored?: --- Product: Koha Version: master Hardware: All OS: All Status: NEW Severity: normal Priority: P5 - low Component: Architecture, internals, and plumbing Assignee: gmcharlt(a)gmail.com Reporter: dcook(a)prosentient.com.au QA Contact: testopia(a)bugs.koha-community.org As noted by myself on the koha-devel listserv, Martin on https://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=11944#c247, and Mark Tompsett on https://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=15794#c2, we might want to use utf8mb4 instead of utf8 for MySQL tables, columns, and connections. utf8 in MySQL has a 3 byte limit: https://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.7/en/charset-unicode-utf8.html. While most "normal" characters in most languages are covered by 1-3 bytes, UTF8 does allow for 4 bytes, which means we have a problem using lesser used characters in Chinese, Japanese, and Korean among other languages. It also means we can't store emoji. When MySQL encounters a 4 byte UTF8 character, it immediately truncates the string from that character onward. Unfortunately, it doesn't raise an error. It raises a warning, which isn't that easy to detect. In my case, I'm trying to store a MARCXML record with a 4 byte character, and while C4::Biblio::AddBiblio returns true, MySQL corrupts the XML record when using utf8 encoding rather than utf8mb4 (both in terms of the MySQL column and the MySQL connection set by Koha::Database). -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[Bug 15184] Ability to duplicate existing order lines to a given basket
by bugzilla-daemon＠bugs.koha-community.org 31 Aug '18

31 Aug '18

https://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=15184 --- Comment #45 from Jonathan Druart <jonathan.druart(a)bugs.koha-community.org> --- (In reply to Katrin Fischer from comment #43) > I quite like the mechanics of this! Some questions: > > 1) Why another checkbox on the last step? (new from copy > search > select > orders > copy order form > more checkboxes) No sense, the last patch removes it. > 2) How do you handle items? Does it depend on what was set for the original > order or is the setting for the current basket taken into account as well? Items are copied, do you think they should only be copied if AcqCreateItem=placing an order? > 3) comment#42 (In reply to Katrin Fischer from comment #42) > Could we make copying the users a checkbox or similar on the copy order form > with default off? That way we might get us the best and most flexible > behaviour. I would suggest to either copy them or not, at least for a first step. And give more flexibility on another bug report. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[Bug 15287] Use font-awesome on the OPAC

https://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=15287 --- Comment #15 from Owen Leonard <oleonard(a)myacpl.org> --- Created attachment 78331 --> https://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/attachment.cgi?id=78331&action=ed… Bug 15287: (follow-up) QA fix for position of user icon This patch corrects the CSS for the user icon which appears when the browser width is very narrow. To test, apply the patch, rebuild CSS, and clear your browser cache if necessary. View the OPAC with and without a user logged in and confirm that the user icon at the top of the page looks correct at narrow browser widths. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
