This is an issue that Ryan and I tried to investigate a while back. What is happening is staff patrons who are NOT "superlibrarians" but have the permission to add/modify borrowers are not allowed to modify or delete information in the new "borrower attribute type" fields added late in 3.0 but it appears to be only not working in Vista with either Firefox 3 or IE (Grace could never determine the version of IE that Teresa was running on Vista). I have tested with FF3 on mac os x and I can do it without being a superlibrarian (use Test Staff - LibLime patron / I can give you its login/pswd). Not sure how to recreate it especially as it does not happen consistently. Sometimes the barcode reader does not send the information to the screen, but we get a "beep" anyway, which will probably make our student workers think that everything is ok, so the item will not get checked out (or in.) The original email stated: Sometimes upon checkout there is a beep and koha does not record the barcode (or koha may have even timed out). Is the beep from the reader or from koha? Is there any way to prevent (or change) the beep if data does not record, to warn our student workers to look at the screen and not just continue to check out? Thus, the installer loops forever on step 3 (install.pl line 419.
