The next stage of the holds process is perfectly capable of warning the user about such problems. There is markup in the template for accomplishing this: [% IF ( reserved ) %] Reserve found for [% name %] (<a href="/cgi-bin/koha/members/moremember.pl?borrowernumber=[% borrowernumber %]">[% borrowernumber %]</a>).
