The purpose of the suggestion is to make koha more flexible as it regards Z39.50 targets' encoding. >From what I can see in http://search.cpan.org/~mirk/Net-Z3950-ZOOM/lib/ZOOM.pod, the calling application (koha in our case ?) has to set the encoding conversion, and ZOOM forwards it in turn to the called YAZ module (as per http://www.indexdata.com/yaz/doc/zoom.records.html) YAZ in turn is supposed to be "a wrapper for the library system call iconv. But YAZ' iconv utility also implements conversions on its own" (as per http://www.indexdata.com/yaz/doc/yaz.pdf and http://www.gnu.org/savannah-checkouts/gnu/libiconv/documentation/libiconv-1. 13/iconv.1.html). In other words, besides marc8, marc8s, marc8lossy, marc8lossless, utf8, iso8859-1, iso5426, iso5428:1984, advancegreek and danmarc, encodings that it natively supports, YAZ is supposed to be able to handle all the encodings supported by iconv. In debian at least, the list of encodings that YAZ supports (fully or partially) is enormous: iconv -l The following list contain all the coded character sets known. This does not necessarily mean that all combinations of these names can be used for the FROM and TO command line parameters. WINDOWS-1258, WINSAMI2, WS2, YU It seems therefore that the only change needed is to add the encoding labels above to the list that koha presents in the Z39.50 target edit page. I understand that the list of koha-supported encodings is currently hard-coded in the koha code. My request is that it would be moved to a table in the db, pre-populated with the encodings mentioned above. The koha admin could then select one of the preset values when editing a Z39.50 target, OR enter an encoding string of his/her choice, that would be quoted/passed-on to the underlying layers. For example, I should be able to select "Windows-1253" or "ISO-8859-7", but I should also be able to enter "ISO 8859-7:2003", and koha would happily and simply use this as the string describing source encoding when constructing queries or receiving result sets. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

I have imported a "fresh" record using the Z39.50 search. I grabbed the "Linux Journal" record from the LC Z39.50 server. I have connected to Koha's Z39.50 server using the following command: yaz-client -c /etc/koha/zebradb/ccl.properties localhost:9999/biblios I run the command find linux and then show. I get a record that returns &lt and &gt, etc. instead of <, >, etc. This also happens when I connect to Koha's Z39.50 server using TLC's Cataloging module. So, multiple Z39.50 clients having the same issue with Koha's Z39.50 server giving them &lt xml entities instead of the correct character <, etc. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

(Note that removing all items from a list is more or less the same as removing the list at once.) My answer would be: the owner should only be allowed to do that in the OPAC. A user in the staff client may do it too. [Currently, any opac login can delete the list. This is a bug!] 2 Who should be allowed to delete an public open list (category 3 only!) or add/remove items from that list? My answer would be: any login from OPAC or staff. It should be made clear that creating such a list is really at your own risk ;) Currently, a user in the opac cannot create an open list. (Is that a bug?) 3 Proposed revisions to lists management: If we solve points 1 and 2, management of lists comes down to all or nothing. You can do everything with an open list, but if you are not owning a closed list, you can't do anything. Would it be useful to have something in between? Like deleting your own added items from a closed list (we could save borrowernumber in virtualshelfcontents)?? Or give the owner of an open list the choice between full access for other logins, adding items only or deleting own added items?
