Yes I think that the returns need a rethink, a bit of design and proper documentation. We should probably do that as a separate bug as the implications could be quite large. Let me know if you need help to do so. And you won't have to provide new tests ;) Ideally the svc script should not be added, but you should use the REST API instead.
