Now that we store them, we need a way to delete accidentally added categories easily. Jonathan wrote about this: - There is no way to delete a category (TODO). At the moment, we have hundreds of different Perl scripts for CRUD operations where the logic is embedded in the Perl controller scripts and not the underlying Perl model modules. Having so many controller scripts means it's difficult to make system-wide changes. Whether changes are made manually or automatically it, it also increases the chance of errors, since you're having to make so many changes (to Perl code or HTML templates). When you have the 1 standard controller, you can use the same base template, the same base error handling, etc. You take advantage of the DRY principle to make old code easier to maintain and you make it easier to add new code. You can put your base code in a base Perl module, subclass it, and then only make the modifications you need to make for special cases. -- I work on other PHP and Perl projects that use this model and it's so much nicer. Of course, a similar alternative is something along the lines of Bug 30225. Now those libraries are getting an email about every renewal, even if that is not the desired thing. "RenewalSendNotice" is set to "[Don't send] a renewal notice according to patron checkout alert preferences." Not sure if this is relevant for automatic renewals? (As far as I can see, there is no "patron checkout alert preferences" related to renewals.) The cron-job automatic_renewals.pl is run in the standard way, without the --send-notices option. If I replace the hyphen with %20 (i.e. a URL encoded space), the search works: {STAFF URL}/cgi-bin/koha/catalogue/search.pl?q=au:%22Stratton%20Porter,%20Gene,%22 To replicate: Do a keyword search for an author with a hyphenated name (I've attached a marc record that has Gene Porter-Stratton for convenience). On the results list page or the detail page, click on the link with the author's name, e.g. By: Stratton-Porter, Gene, 1863-1924. The results will look like this: No results found No results match your search for 'au:"Stratton-Porter, Gene,"' in Some Library Back up to the previous page. Copy the link url into a text editor.
