Currently, when you go to look at notices and slips, you see absolutely everything (All libraries). And when you select a library, you see only notices and slips that are specific to that library. I'm wondering if this would be a better model: Initial view is just the default notices and slips (to all libraries), and not including those specific to a library. If you select a library, you see that library's specific custom slips, and you see in gray or blue or some other color, all the other default slips that are not customized. Next to which is a button to create a duplicate of that notice or slip for that library. When you click it, it duplicates that notice/slip for that library, and it shows in the same format/color as the other custom notices/slips for that library. Custom notices/slips would have a button next to them that would allow you to delete. If you click that, after a confirmation, the custom slip would be deleted, and the page would update, with that notice/slip now showing as the default instead of custom. Defaults would not be editable from with the view of a specific library. You would have to select the defaults view again to edit those. I think we need to add hyphen to the list of punctuation characters to ignore to fix this problem. Today a patron is not allowed to check out already checked out material when using the automat (sip).(In the staff client you can override this if you scan the barcode). There are several reason for allowing this: Case 1: If a patron, patron no.1, fails to deliver the item properly (the item is still on loan on his account) and the item is placed on the shelf where it belongs. The next patron(no.2) who picks it up and borrows it, can in this way correct the error of patron no.1 without contacting the staff. Today we risk that patron no.1 will receive fines even though he has delivered it. Or even worse patron no.2 has borrowed it (failed to see og ignored the message on the automat) and patron nr. 1 gets the fines. Case 2: If a patron has an item on loan that belongs to another branch, has no renewals left and wishes to borrow it again. He will be able to do so if there are no one on the waiting list. Because we have many branches that are open without any staff present, this feature is even more important. (That is, if no one else needs that item in the meanwhile, and makes a hold for it.) We wish to be able to distinguish the on-site loans from the checkouts they take home. The on-site option is good for this, because it shows clearly to the patrons and to the staff that the loans are on-site. However, we need two improvements to Koha for this. First, we need the option to set the due date automatically according to the calendar and the circulation rules, taking into account the holidays and the loan period that is set to the patron and to the item. In addition, we need the option for the patrons to be able to renew their on-site loans, too. Now the on-site loans are non-renewable, so if the patron needs them longer than what is set to due date originally, it would be good for them to be able to renew the loans themselves through our OPAC.
