[Bug 31416] New: Improve OPAC "Browse by hierarchy" and "Subject cloud" features
by bugzilla-daemon＠bugs.koha-community.org 21 Aug '22

21 Aug '22

https://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=31416 Bug ID: 31416 Summary: Improve OPAC "Browse by hierarchy" and "Subject cloud" features Change sponsored?: --- Product: Koha Version: master Hardware: All OS: All Status: NEW Severity: enhancement Priority: P5 - low Component: OPAC Assignee: oleonard(a)myacpl.org Reporter: egpetridis(a)yahoo.com QA Contact: testopia(a)bugs.koha-community.org Created attachment 139447 --> https://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/attachment.cgi?id=139447&action=e… Subject cloud example The "Browse by hierarchy" (opac-browser.pl) and "Subject cloud" (opac-tags_subject.pl) features are very convinient in allowing the visitor determine what a particular library is about, what topics it focuses on, literally at a glance and present the subject tree to the visitor in a convenient way. They are not however properly implemented, as they need to a. cater for more languages when looking-up classification codes, b. honor classification versions, c. support more classifications, apart from DDC that is, d. bypass items marked as hidden in OPAC. Perhaps this could be controlled by a system preference, or -even better- by having a separate "librarian view" available in librarian menus. NB. This enhancement suggestion/request is contrary to views described in Bug 20417 - Remove OpacCloud (and OpacBrowser) system preference and feature -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
