It would be better to use the borrowernumber, but that would require rewriting the whole script, which seems like a lot of work for little gain. Instead, we'll add a warning / prevent upload if the patron doesn't have a cardnumber. The field for entering the number of copies defaults to empty, and this results in this warning, from the code above: [WARN] Argument "" isn't numeric in subroutine entry at /usr/share/koha/intranet/cgi-bin/cataloguing/additem.pl line 233.
